But your car is gone

I inherit the family business like it's my business
Trashin' the bitches that trash us
Stop.

Quinn you say?
How was I so blind
Nobody does that shit no more
'Cept a few crazies and of course
The Quinns
Chills run down your back
Watch your back
Somebody's got you
Knife tip sharp
Against the flesh that has come to betray you
No ideas
Or a lot more than flesh will betray you

The jaw that holds those pearls that draw
Draw the sharks

And There Are So Many Things
And there are so many things for them to do in life
But they don't know where to start
They're afraid to start
They have this distinct fear of asking questions
For fear of being told “no” or worse
For fear of people thinking they're dumb
They allow themselves to be interrupted
Because they feel that their ideas aren't good enough
So they don't get a say
They put others before them
So they won't inconvenience people
And they won't be disliked
People tell them all the time
“You're so quiet.”
Because they've gotten used to the idea of silence
Even to people they're speaking to for the first time ever
They always make
The one thing I regret, more than anything, is you
And you
And you
And you
All of you
My family, my second family
The people that I had been searching for
That were right in front of my eyes in the first place
That loved me
Accepted me
Really cared for me
(I hadn't expected to find you at all)
So soon. Too soon
You were a mirage, a dream
My body couldn't grasp the concept
So I chalked it up to a "Lack of Interest"

100 Theme Challenge - Night
An invisible cloak
Hiding those who sneak from piercing eyes
Those who wish not to be seen
Those who cannot be seen
For risk of revelation to those who don't understand
Who gape and point and mock
What is with superficiality in this century?
It's always clothes and shoes and who's going out with whom
The human race surprises me
The human race makes me ashamed
I used to be that way
A creature incapable to accept
The night hides me now
My friends are long gone, stolen by the angel of death
Yet I remain
Yet I was the least accepting of them all
A monster in my own culture
Now I am a monster in any culture
A creature of the nigh
Rumble bumble sink and crumble
Houses crash fall down and tumble
Lives cut short and hearts adrift
Feel the pain emotions rift
Freedom flees for open plains
Feasting on unearthly grains
Soldiers die in fields of blue
Hear them, broken, cry out "True!"
Angels speak of dark decent
Priests, they say "Repent! Repent!"
Crows are flocking, rocking trees
Above the sun-touched rolling seas
Lower down into the ground
Hats removed and trumpet sound
Souls are lost in cloudy skies
Time is gone final goodbyes
Only two
And one's fading
And one's growing
And neither are mine
And neither are theirs
And one with arms
And one with heart
Only two
And one tears
And one shares
And neither are mine
And neither are theirs
And one with eyes
And one with ears
Only two
And one dies
And one lives
And neither is mine
And neither is theirs
And one with cold
And one with warmth
Only one
And he grows
And he shares
And he lives
And he is neither mine
Nor his
And his heart
And his ears
Are warm
I love you.
Je t'aime.
All of your perks,
Your quirks,
I love them.
You don't see it.
The coffee on your breath,
The stars in your eyes,
You don't understand.
There's too much to list.
Your fuzzy hair,
Conversations in the playground,
Hangman with borrowed pens.
I love you for little moments.
Tiny pieces of your life,
Set aside
For us.
I still haven't heard you sing,
And my cranes will be better.
I love you.
And if you stay,
Maybe you'll witness more
Calm twilit moments.
The unsightly blemishes
Upon my face
Tell of my past,
My future, my fate
A scar of betrayal
A blackhead of loss
The rash of a friend
Who will never be gone
A cut here for sorrow
A scab there for joy
And birthmark that reminds
Me of a certain boy
A dimple of blessing
A blush in the cheek
The things that add up
And equal to be me
Dear Jessika,
How is twenty years old treating you? I hope it's good considering you're me.
I can picture you now, third year at MUN. Are you still majoring in psychology? Is it awesome? Is it crazy? Only God knows how many years left until you're finally finished your studies! That's a relief.
I'm writing to you today so that you might actually remember in five years to do this. I know how forgetful you are so this might help.
Could you try to let yourself speak out for me? I'm still too quiet here in level one so I'd like to be able to speak my mind in five years. I'm getting better, don't worry, but I don't know how much I will be abl

Fire. That's the only thing I remember from my childhood in Loth. Fire on the beaches. Fire in the houses. In my house particularly. My family ran the only bakery in Loth, one of the few in all of Sedare. Our whole house was based on fire, for heating, cooking, and, most importantly, baking.
Considering the population of Loth, barely two thousand, you'd think that a bakery wouldn't get very far in a fishing village. Wrong. We were filthy rich. Seems fishermen really like their bread. And we didn't just sell bread, either. We had cakes and pastries and products of all kinds. We were famous for them.
I didn't want to be a baker, though, coo

"Laura!" Gillian called behind her "Hurry up! The library closes soon!" she pushed her glasses further up on her nose and sprinted the rest of the way to the library. Laura trailed behind miserably.
"Why do you have to be so forgetful!" She yelled to Gillian's receding figure. Seeing no hope in escape, she, too, began to run towards the squat brick building.
Gillian was already inside when Laura arrived. She leaned against the wall for minute, panting, before joining Gillian in an attempt to make the librarian give them permission to pore over the recently returned books.
"I'm sorry girls," She said "But I can't have you going in and r

"Here boy!" Joseph ran after Perchard as he pelted into the yard, tearing up grass with his claws. The beagle was hot on a scent and there was no way to stop him no matter how Joseph tried.
"Perchard!" Joseph called again, eventually giving up and sprinting after the dog.
Perchard, oblivious to everything but his scent, slipped under the fence and made for the woods. He disappeared into the brush and left Joseph thrashing in the ferns behind him.
"Damn dog." Joseph muttered, retreating and settling himself under an oak. He pulled an apple from the pocket of his trousers and wiped it off with his sleeve then took a bite. He was about ha

As I ducked under the woven entrance to the hut, my nose was attacked with the acrid scent of medicine and burning herbs. This was my first time visiting Old Kaw Woman in years and I had forgotten the strength of the smell. I was only a skinny child of twelve then, but now I was fifteen and in need of her help once more.
I had located the source of the smell, an herb stew boiling into a paste over the fire. This fire was also the only source of light for this dank and humid place, casting flickering shadows and making you appear to be in a dream.
"Yes, child?" a voice drifted from the shadows. I turned to meet the eyes of Old Kaw Woman.

Tick, tock, tick, tock. Deep within the House Of Mae, a bass chime rings.
One.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Five.
Six.
Seven.
Eight.
Nine.
Ten.
Eleven.
Twelve.
The single note, resonating throughout the empty house, echoing and growing stronger with every beat, shakes Willoughby to the bone. She begins to quiver as a wave of terror swamps her, turning every rustle into a shriek, every second into an hour.
The clock chimes again.
Thirteen.
Thirteen? The thought rattles Willoughby even further. How does a clock strike thirteen? Surely her mind must be playing tricks, there are only twelve hours on a clock. Still, as the mi
"What are you?"
He'd already seen my wings, so what was the point in hiding? I sighed imperceptibly "I'm a fairy. Fae."
Joshua's eyes widened slightly and I admired the human race for being able to control their emotions so well. He swallowed and I watched intently as his Adam's apple bobbed.
"Are there. . .more?"
I nodded slowly, lowering my eyes. Mom was going to kill me. When I looked back up, I didn't see horror in Josh's eyes, nor the look that one would use on a specimen under a microscope. It was . . . unsure. Like he didn't know what to make of me. But he certainly didn't seem scared.
"Why didn't you tell me?" His voice so
As I sit here in this boring vampire court, with Jemma, one of my sisters clutching one hand and another sister, Ammeline clutching the other, it still is at loss to me why the girl had screamed while I was feeding. Then I remembered. I had forgotten to numb he mind. To dull her senses so she wouldn't react. Such a small thing to remember, but an 'oh so important' one.
Vampires around us were standing. I pulled up Jenna and Ammeline. To my left, I saw Ella, Empress of the Vampires, stride into the room. her mane of black hair is loose around her shoulders. Thomas is hanging off of her arm like a lost puppy. It sickens me to see such streng
All eyes turned to me when I stepped into the room. The music stopped and the weight of suspense hung in the air. I felt like I shouldn't be here.
Daniel stepped from the crowd, his unruly brown hair waving in the light breeze.

"I know" I replied "But it couldn't wait. Kasey fell off of his horse and broke his arm and the animal's in in terrible shape from the fall. I don't know how to ride but you do. We need a doctor desperately!" I tugged on his arm "Please."

The cancer took Mary on a Friday, just after three in the morning. She was laying in bed, sleeping. I sat in the chair near the window, reading something, I forget now what, trying not to think about the moment, only thinking about the moment. It had just finished raining, and I had the window to the room cracked, the scent of fresh condensation floating in from the garden outside. The air smelled pure and relaxed. It was lovely.
I was dozing slightly when the EKG started to beep. It took me several seconds to realize what exactly I was hearing, not that it mattered much. By the time I was out of the chair, the nurse had walked in. She move
1. Dont Find Time, Make It. Too many authors think that they will find the time to write sometime today or this week or next month. But think about it: when was the last time you said, Hey, look! I just found a twenty fifth hour in my jacket pocket! You know how many hours there are in a day, so stop fooling yourself. If youre going to have time to write, you need to make time to write. Whether you set aside the same hour every day or use those few minutes you have between classes, make sure youre devoting that time entirely to your writing, not sharing it with your favourite reality tv show. And then it all begins. The depression. The photos lack something... That sparkle of life, you know. You ask why? Is this the way of god trying to tell me that I have no talents and that I wasted my money?
NO.

GETTING PUBLISHED: THE TRADITIONAL WAY

If, like me, you have stories lying around gathering virtual dust on your hard drive, why not send them out to a publisher? You have nothing to lose. A couple of years ago, I attended the launch of an annual Canadian short story anthology, called Tesseracts 10. I knew one of the authors whose speculative fiction piece had been included in the book. Matthew Johnson and I had taken the same creative writing course. Our former prof, author, Robert Sawyer, was there at the launch too, as well as the editors of the anthology. Those who had contributed a story to Tesseracts 10 to

Do you remember the Big Bad Wolf? He destroyed the Three Little Pigs' houses and ate them (or only chased them, depending on the rendition). He ran to Little Red Riding Hood's home and devoured her grandmother. The Big Bad Wolf appears in countless fairy tales to eat and terrorize the general populace.

Questions:
1. What's your favourite song lyric (doesn't necessarily have to be from your favourite song)?
goddammit this one is difficult. One that I particularly like right now is from "I Wanna Be Yours" by the Arctic Monkeys. It goes like "I wanna be your setting lotion / Hold your hair in deep devotion / At least as deep as the Pacific Ocean / I wanna be yours" It's just really cool because the Pacific Ocean is really fucking deep (think Mariana Trench) and the Arctic Monkeys are boss as hell anyway and those lyrics just sound amazing for some reason.

Hey lovelies,
Long time no see! I've been pretty absent haven't I? Last post was from last month sometime I do believe. Sorry for abandoning you all! I've been working on some things so don't worry, I'll post more soon enough.
The reason I'm writing this journal is because I just found a guy who's recently had to delete his account here and start from the bottom again. His name is Andre and he's pretty great!
